Live 2 - Research: Urban Legends

For this module I have proposed to use Urban Legends as a key source point to produce a short film.

  • A series of 4 micro shorts of around 3-5 minutes each.
  • Collectively making a 12-16 minute short.
  • A continuation through the main character as the killer in the micro shorts.
  • Each micro short will be based around an Urban Legend.
  • A dark tone across the collective short.
  • A use of harsh lighting, with a  mixture of under lighting and low key lighting.
  • More focused to a horror/thriller vibe.

I was thinking what if, they aren’t all different killers, what if it’s one killer who committed infamous murders that became Urban Legends over time?

None of that teen/student group thing, where they all get slowly picked off. But four individual stories, with connections running through each.

Beginning with a remote location with a couple in a car, the murder takes place in the tale of ‘The Hook Man’, with the Killer quickly leaving the scene.
The following micro short would continue from the killer leaving the scene and starting the development of ‘The Killer in the Back Seat’ the murder of a woman delivering pizza.
The third micro short will pick up with the killer carrying the pizza to be delivered. Mistakingly let in to the student accommodation by a student leaving. The killer makes his way to the room of his next murder for ‘Don’t Turn on the Lights’.

The fourth instalment will be ‘The Baby Sitter’ in which the killer will prey upon an unsuspecting baby sitter for his final murder within the collection. The series of disturbing phone calls that take place in this micro short, will also be seen from the killers perspective during the three prior micro shorts.
