The shot needs to be a high end creative short. This needs to show off the northeast and how great it is (and it is pretty fucking awesome!)
[excluding credits] It needs to be around a song length (this could vary between 2:30 - 4:00 minutes), And to include either narration, music or poetry, The contents should be upbeat and positive, diverse and honest.
**Drone work is a possibility here, from another source; this can achieve several nice aerial views of locations. With the drone using a mini black magic, it also opens the possibility to film on the black magic**
The shot has the potential to reward me with a national and even an international credit, along with paid work experience in the future,
DEADLINE IS 10TH MARCH! that is 6 weeks from published date. We can't pitch until next week however, so we have 5 weeks for this live brief. (it does seem a lot to cover in a short time, but why would we be given the brief if the lecturers feel we would not be capable?)
Ideally a 2-3 week phase of intense pre-production, a 2-3 days filming using the crew bus to make transport easier and cheaper. Leaving just under a week to Edit, which will also be intense giving the editing phase only 3 days before the deadline.
Essentially after a pitch is confirmed and a team (of six is) put together, each member could tackle a county. One for County Durham, One for North Yorkshire, Two for Tyne and Wear and Two for Northumberland. This would allow a faster collective of resources in terms of paperwork throughout pre-production. Paperwork would include, shot summaries, story boarding, location release forms, filming release forms and Risk assessment forms (along with any other forms when and if needed.).
MY Pitch
(6 locations)
The priorities in terms of location that I have are to capture,
Sunderland, (Alnwick) Norhumberland, Berwick Upon Tweed, Hartlepool, Morpeth and South Shields; with these being where Johnston Press, publishes and distributes its newspapers. But i also want to include some of the key towns/cities within the short. These are;- Hadrian's Wall, Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle, Blyth, Metrocentre, Washington, Blackhall Colliery/Rocks, Seaham and Ashington. (Cramlington possibly)
[6 main locations, 10 other locations. 16 in total.]
My aim would be to capture what the Northeast do best, and that is to retain a historical setting within a contemporary means. To look at the old harbors of Hartlepool and Seaham; along with Mining towns such as Blackhall Colliery, to see how their fame is viewed in the modern day. i.e. Trincomole, mining industry monuments. While also looking at the modernity that plays a vital role to the northeast such as Newcastle/Sunderland clash in Football, the metrocentre(largest shopping centre in NE). A view also, of well known landmarks such as the likes of Durham Cathedral and The Angel of the North.
I would also like to show a main street from each town/city facing towards a landmark (the streets are yet to be decided) and to have an overlay through editing to make a quick and constant flow to show the people of the Northeast going about their daily lives. I feel like this would show a basic visual of who exactly it is that fuels the region and makes it a place we have come to know and love. (Saddler Street, Durham - Church Street or Victoria Road, Hartlepool - around Newgate Street, Newcastle etc.)
Shots such as the Angel of the North would be a fantastic opportunity to use the Drone to get a nice solid aerial view of the structure and its surroundings. Other shots of landmarks would be took with a low angle shot. This would create a sense of greater importance as it will look larger than it is.
